You’re starting to look so much more like a little girl….

and so much less like a baby…

Today you pointed to a bubble in the bathtub and said “bubble” and then looked at me and said “more soap.” It’s amazing to me that you know that the soap makes bubbles – that you know what you want, and how to communicate this to me…

All this in just one year.

Every day you grow and change and I embrace each new step and new word and new discovery with so much excitement and gratitude (but sometimes I miss the little newborn you will never be again).

I love you so fiercely.

I don’t think you will begin to understand the multitude of my love for you until you have a little girl of your own snuggled up on your chest – little toes pressed against the empty womb that was once so full, nursing in the wee hours of the morning in a tangled mess of limbs and sweaty hair and sheets…
