Mary Grace and Daryl – Expecting

I always find it so exciting when a couple chooses to wait until the baby is born to find out the gender of the child they are expecting. We didn’t know Lilah was a little girl until moments after she was born. While pregnant, everyone who looked at me said something along the lines of, “Oh, you are definitely carrying a boy” or, “You can tell it’s a boy by your behind” (I kid you not!).

My aunt Gail dangled my wedding ring over my belly with a thread. As the old wives tale goes, if the wedding ring swings in a circular motion, you will be having a girl. If it moves back and forth in a motion like a pendulum, you will be having a boy.

Of course my ring moved back and forth!

I think Mary Grace is having a girl. And I absolutely LOVE the girl name she and Daryl have picked out, so I hope they have a chance to use it. However, this is only my prediction, and I have been wrong on several occasions. Right up until the moment I gave birth to Lilah, Mike and I were convinced we would be welcoming little Henry into this world.

Mary Grace and Daryl, I had a great time getting to know you (even with the below zero temperatures!). I can’t wait to meet your little girl…or boy.

Lisa and Ward – Expecting

Lisa and Ward are expecting a little guy in a few short weeks. I can’t wait to meet him! I have known Lisa for years and I am so excited to see her as a mom. It is such a life changing experience, and such a beautiful thing to witness through my lens. Here are some photos from the maternity session. Blake and Arielle – Expecting

Blake and Arielle are waiting for their little girl to arrive any day now! They are also having their little one with a midwife (yeah for midwives!). I adored this session. It was different than my usual maternity style, and I loved every minute of it. Little Miss M. isn’t even born yet and she is already loved so much. Blake and Arielle, it was great to finally meet you! I will be thinking about you in the next few weeks as you anticipate the arrival of your daughter. I can’t wait to meet little Miss. M.

M. Family – Waiting for Babies…

In a few short weeks, the M. Family will be a family of five! They are expecting fraternal twin girls (I am SO excited to photograph them! They were already 4.5 pounds each on the day of the session). If they are anything like Big Brother T., the session will be a breeze! He was one of the most easygoing little guys I have ever photographed! This gorgeous mama looks so beautiful pregnant (I think she looks a little like Drew Barrymore).

Powers Family Maternity Session

I have photographed Theresa and Darcy and little Miss R. a few times. It has been so much fun to see this little one grow. In a few short weeks she is going to be a big sister! Mom and Dad are keeping the gender of this little one a surprise! I can’t wait to find out! Theresa, you look so beautiful. I am so in love with your little family…

Jenny and Rob – Expecting

Jenny and Rob are expecting a little boy in only three short weeks! It was so nice to meet both of you and to share in these special moments. I’ve had so many maternity sessions lately (I’ve still got a few more to blog) that it looks like August is going to be a full month of blogging newborn sessions. All that squishy, fuzzy, newborn goodness – I can’t wait! Jenny and Rob, congratulations! I can’t wait to meet the little guy. Have I ever mentioned that I LOVE my job?!

Sara and Joel booked this family session before they became pregnant with baby number two. Sara was just starting to show, so we took some maternity photos as well. Greg and Nathalie – Expecting

I have known Greg and Nathalie for quite some time. Nathalie and I worked together at the Coffee Lodge for years. We have so many hilarious memories (that would take me pages to write) working as baristas for Leo. Greg and Nathalie’s wedding was also the first wedding I ever photographed. I was so excited to find out that they were expecting their first little baby. I loved every moment of this session. Nathalie and Greg are perfect for each other and still so much in love! I can’t wait to meet your little peanut and to see some of that love overflowing as you become parents for the first time. Enjoy your photos. Nathalie, I know you feel huge and pregnant, but you look incredible and so so happy! Love you guys!

Lynsey and Kevin – Expecting

Lynsey and Kevin are looking forward to the arrival of their first child, a baby boy, in July. These two were so adorable and easy to photograph. We had a fun session despite the fact that I was pushing for light and it started raining in the middle of the session (you can’t tell by the photos, though). Lynsey and Kevin, I can’t wait to meet your little guy. I am VERY excited for your newborn session!
